CONVERTED BARN AND STABLES

With an ambitious conversion of a series of barns and former stables underway we were invited to work on the flooring, bathrooms, furniture and soft furnishings at this hidden rural retreat. A delicately crafted Lewis & Wood Wallpaper became a pivotal design element for this project, guiding choices for the property, which is nestled around a lovely courtyard to one side and glorious views of the open countryside to the other.

Colour and texture are carefully balanced to allow the gentle floral wall papers to sing in a bright, modern context, punctuated with soft block colours in the hand made cushions, curtains and blinds.

Wallpaper is strategically used in key rooms including in the guest bedroom where it was taken up into the beautifully restored oak rafters, and to the master bathroom where, juxtaposed with simple white metro tiles, the space is elevated beyond the purely functional.

Handcrafted joinery provides vital storage, whilst heirloom furniture brings a touch of heritage and family history to the retreat.

We introduced a bold, deep blue into the dining space at the end of a glorious hand made Tom Howley kitchen to draw the eye through the single storey dwelling, as the barns link from one to the other.

Discreet LED lighting behind timber baffles illuminates the beams and beautiful glass pendants including the bubble light draw the eye through.
